Arrived in Frankfurt without incident. The flight was a bit bumpy, but I got to watch movies including...The Sound of Music! So I should be fully prepared to recognize stuff when I do the tour. Passport check was perfunctory, at best, and rental car pick-up went smoothly. I just finished breakfast in a cafe on the plaza in Mainz and am taking some time to get my wits about me - might as well because it's raining. :(
The plaza (or platz as we call it here in Germany) is still super cute despite the rain. Pics to follow if I manage to find a way to download pics from my camera to my iPad. If I don't pull that off, I'll be able to post some crappy iPhone/iPad pics while I'm here but the good ones will have to wait. I just didn't feel like lugging my laptop over here. I was really committed to the no checked luggage plan.
I think I'll probably try to figure out how to get my car out of the parking garage next and then jump back on the autobahn (I'm a natural!) to head toward Heidelberg where I'll be spending the night. If it keeps raining, night may begin around 4 or 5 for me today. I feel fine now, but expect I'll be less perky by afternoon. More later...
